Experience

I have worked as a freelance copy writer, copy editor and proofreader for 8 years (full-time since 2017) having initially worked in-house for the legal publisher Sweet and Maxwell (Thomson Reuters) as Editor of their European legal journals after completing my degree in Law and French. I then worked as a teacher of English in Shanghai after completing the Cambridge CELTA TEFL training.

On return to the UK I was Resources Manager at Youth Sport Trust, a publisher of physical education materials for schools, co-ordinating all aspects of publication including proofreading. I then moved to Higher Education, working in the legal teams initially at University of Leciester and then at University of Nottingham negotiating contracts for industrially-funded research and advising on intellectual property issues.

In-house training Sweet and Maxwell/Thomson Reuters in all aspects of editing legal journals (including editing using British Standards Institution BS 5261C:2005 symbols; checking citations)
