Jeremy Toynbee is an accomplished editorial professional with over 20 years’ experience. Jeremy is habitually on time and on budget; exceeding client expectations is his speciality. Based on his wide ranging experience Jeremy is able to advise on editorial and production workflows, and peer-review management systems. The more complex the project the more at home Jeremy is. Nonetheless, he still enjoys the simplicity of being 'just the editor' and delving deep into a text to sort it out.
As a company Toynbee Editorial Services Ltd (TES) offers full-service production packages (editing, illustration, permissions, typesetting and proofing) or we can provide one or two standalone services in integration with your existing suppliers.
We manage the submission and peer review of journal and conference papers. Working with both databases/spreadsheets and online submission systems (ScholarOne, Editorial Manager), we provide assistant editor support.
TES has fulfilled the role of assistant editor for the Journal of Contemporary History for over 11 years and ensures the timely preparation of the Institution of Civil Engineers’ conference papers. We also manage books for review, offering simply a central receiving and dispatch point for books, and maintaining reviewer and publisher contact details. More comprehensive packages include: approaching reviewers to undertake reviews; checking and holding submitted reviews for publication; and handling both paper and pdf offprint requirements.

Sarah Flynn, publisher, Pearson Education
It has been a pleasure to work with Jeremy Toynbee closely on the Journal of Contemporary History. He has done a huge amount to move the management and publication of the journal into the 21st century.
Niall Ferguson, Laurence A. Tisch professor of history, Harvard University
As you promised at the outset, you were efficient, communicative and a pleasure to deal with. It’s all gone very smoothly and I really appreciate all your help.
With you we have felt that we are in touch with someone who knows 'his stuff' and is completely reliable.
I am completing a book at the same time as this one through [another publisher] and I can’t tell you how different (negative) the experience has been. It makes me really appreciate what you have provided.

A quick note to say thanks with your efforts with the journal, the production side of things seems to have come on in leaps and bounds.
It has been a great pleasure working with you, and I have very much appreciated your patient guidance and support.
I know that we have never met, but you have been a joy to work with, and will be sadly missed by me and the journal.
