Based in Reading, UK and works with clients in the UK and Australia
Career background
Copy-editor and proofreader, specialising in social sciences and humanities. My clients include academic publishers, self-publishing authors and students.
Before editing freelance, I worked with words in my previous careers as a learning consultant, instructional designer, and social worker and family therapist, which means I offer a broad range and depth of experience across finance, business, management consulting, social policy, family therapy, psychotherapy and psychology.
In addition to professional copy-editing experience, I have completed copy-editing and proofreading training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and have academic qualifications in social administration, social work, business and publishing.
Whatever you write, a fresh eye will give your words clarity, consistency and coherence. I can detect mistakes and inconsistencies, and give constructive feedback on grammar, spelling and punctuation to polish your writing. I have a friendly, flexible approach and reasonable rates. Please contact me via email or phone to discuss your project. For further information and testimonials visit my website www.janewoodheadeditor.co.uk.
I'll look forward to hearing from you.

Testimonials
If I've learnt anything from writing my previous two books, it's that a good editor is vital. So having Jane on the case was a blessing. An absolute pleasure to work with and I recommend her to help any author with the writing process.
Fred Copestake, author, Ethical Selling
It was really a pleasure and a privilege to work with you! Looking forward for potential other collaborations in the future.
Symphorien Ongolo, PhD full-time researcher in political science at the French national institute for sustainable development (IRD – France), University Paul-Valéry of Montpellier
Jane's work is of the highest professional standard. She is meticulous in her attention to detail and sensitive to nuances which would otherwise have escaped me. A pleasure to work with, she creates an enduring confidence of being in safe hands.
Professor Ray Fuller, Fellow Emeritus, Trinity College, Dublin
I wish to thank my amazing editor Jane Woodhead who never fails to offer the best and most professional editing services a writer could ask for.
