About Daniela

Words, quite simply – I'm a bookworm by nature and, for almost 20 years, I have worked in editorial roles, helping writers to shape and share their stories.

In those two decades, I have gained invaluable skills, while working for some of the major publishing houses in the UK, and enjoyed the absolute privilege of spending my days elbow-deep in manuscripts and proofs, entrusted to look after your words.

Broadly speaking, as an editor and proofreader, I diligently check your written material to ensure that it is clear (no more clunky paragraphs!), consistent, engaging and grammatically correct – but that's far from the whole story!

The role of an editor is varied and requires different levels of intervention, depending on when I join the journey – what never changes is my attitude: I'm supportive, reliable, enthusiastic and empathetic when giving feedback. I have listened to the voices of hundreds of writers and, for each one, I have worked my hardest to make it shine, by sensitively striking a balance between grammatical accuracy and creativity.

When working with publishers and authors I carry out:

line editing, copy-editing and proofreading – I have extensive experience in literary and commercial fiction, as well as non-fiction. In particular, I specialise in:

🔪 thriller and crime (cosy and otherwise!)

        💕 romance and romantic comedies

        🏰 historical fiction

        🪴 lifestyle and self-help

        🖼️ art, history and interiors

🎈 children's books (from picture to middle grade)

        📖 teaching resources

developmental editing and manuscript critique for fiction (in particular, thriller, crime and romance).

When working with businesses, I focus on creating straightforward, effective content. I can help with:

copy-editing to refine your message and improve clarity

proofreading to ensure accuracy and professionalism

substantial rewriting and content writing

for newsletters, websites, printed handbooks, blog posts, PowerPoint presentations, and other marketing materials.

My goal is to ensure that your copy inspires trust – rather than confusion – in your clients, helping you to communicate with confidence and credibility.

What else?

Two for one! I am bilingual in English and Italian, so can successfully capture all of the right nuances in both languages and help you to ensure that your written material sounds authentic. Moreover, if your work is set against a fabulous Italian backdrop, I can check the cultural references and advise on accuracy.

Speaking of language distinctions closer to home... I have extensive experience of adapting texts that adhere to US English spelling and conventions for a British audience.

Last but not least, I work on both Word and PDF documents – and whatever your house style, I can effortlessly apply your various preferences. Don't have one? Leave it with me! I'll prepare one tailored to your favoured choices and spot those annoying little discrepancies that, somehow, always find a way to creep into a text.
