About Amanda

A friendly and efficient copyediting and proofreading service for publishers, organisations, students, and academics.

I bring editing experience and subject knowledge to ensure your writing is clear and accurate. I have edited and proofread a variety of formats and styles, including academic and reference texts, government policy documents, online teaching materials, and business reports.

In editing academic and reference material, my main subject focus is on law and social sciences, drawing on the knowledge gained from my academic and professional background in these areas.

Students: I can help you with theses, dissertations, and assignments, correcting essential errors and identifying areas for your further attention.

Academics: I can help you prepare submission-ready journal articles, monograph manuscripts, research proposals, and material for conferences and symposiums.

I frequently work with Oxford (Hart’s/OSCOLA), APA, and Harvard referencing styles, as well as (or in combination with) other publisher or bespoke house styles.

I am conscientious in my approach and sensitive to clients’ requirements. I have worked on text by writers with dyslexia or with English as an additional language. I have also worked on highly confidential items, following strict security protocols and understanding the need to act with complete discretion.

If you

  • need a fresh pair of eyes,
  • do not have enough spare time to carry out checks yourself, or
  • are looking for an expert to amend errors, improve clarity, and apply a house style,

please get in touch for a free, no-obligation discussion about how I could help you.

You can also find further details on my website about the support I offer publishers, business and NGOs, and students and academics.

Testimonials

Amanda Anstee was excellent in every way; she kept strictly to time, she found tiny mistakes at which authors marvelled, she made helpful suggestions when there were options for solving a problem and she responded rapidly to any queries from us.

We have collectively published more than 25 books with a series of major publishers and we currently edit two international journals, but we have never come across a copy-editor of this quality.

Malcolm Coulthard, Alison May & Rui Sousa-Silva, editors of The Routledge Handbook of Forensic Linguistics (2nd edn, Routledge)

Thanks for all your hard work.... It’s been a pleasure working with you and I appreciate your close and perceptive read of the prose throughout. You made the copyediting process seamless and enjoyable!

Andrew R. Hom, author of International Relations and the Problem of Time (OUP)

In copyediting my book, The International Rule of Law, Amanda worked very diligently. She was also extremely responsive – I had many questions and queries and she was disposed to discuss all of them with me very patiently – and she perfectly kept to the deadlines. I would definitely recommend her.

Denise Wohlwend, author of The International Rule of Law: Scope, Subjects, Requirements (Edward Elgar)

Thank you for finding the time to accommodate me over the past two days; your flexibility has been invaluable. I'm grateful for your thorough email and the attached materials. Your adjustments ... are highly appreciated!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to say that I've truly enjoyed our collaboration thus far, and would be delighted to continue working with you on this and future projects.
