Experience

I have twenty-four years of editing and proofreading experience for publishers, higher education institutions, research institutes, and other organisations in the public and private sectors.


I work on

•    general non-fiction, including illustrated books

•    textbooks and other resources for educational publishers

•    academic books, including multi-author volumes

•    research papers for academics, institutes and universities

•    annual reports, prospectuses, in-house magazines and other literature for academic institutions and administrative bodies

I have expertise in using Word’s editing tools, including reviewing tools, templates, styles and macros. I am experienced in proofreading in PDF format as well as hard copy.

Advanced Professional Member of CIEP since 2004

Licentiateship of the City & Guilds of London Institute (LCGI) in Editorial Skills, 2010

Publishing Training Centre: Basic Editing, pass with distinction

MA (Hons), 1st class, in Greek and Hebrew; PhD in Greek, both University of Glasgow

Throughout my career I have continuously developed and updated my editorial skills by attending CIEP conferences and taking CIEP and other courses.

I am a member of the CIEP’s tutoring team for some of their editorial skills courses.

My academic background is in ancient languages: Greek, Latin and Hebrew. 

I often find that my knowledge of French, German and Italian is useful in my work.


What I do

•    provide on-screen copyediting in Word and hard copy or on-screen (PDF) proofreading, specialising in non-fiction

•    copyedit and proofread journal articles, research papers and reports for print and online publication

•    copyedit and proofread textbooks, study guides and resource materials on social subjects, vocational subjects and literacy for leading educational publishers

•    handle projects from copyediting to final proofs, including illustrated books and multi-author volumes

•    provide a consultation and editorial service for public and private sector clients, especially for work on reports, prospectuses and in-house magazines
