London
* Services offered *
I am a highly experienced editor, mainly concentrating on development editing, line-editing and copy-editing, but also offering proofreading, coaching, project management, translation and writing.
* Qualifications *
I have a PhD in Medieval French and Franco-Italian, an MPhil in European Literature (with modules in French and Italian) and a first-class MA in Modern Languages (French and German). My editorial training includes a series of e-learning courses (Publishing Training Centre, 2019 to 2022), Editing Mastery: How to Edit Writing to Perfection (LinkedIn Learning, 2021) and Basic Proofreading by Distance Learning (Publishing Training Centre, 2014).
* Subject specialisms *
I am well placed to offer my services as an academic editor in the fields of Medieval, French and Italian Studies, but I also take on work across Humanities subjects more generally. I also edit material in my minor specialisms of Catholic spirituality and YA fantasy fiction, building on the expertise I have gained in a 17-year career with the UK's largest Christian publisher, and in my other career as a published fantasy writer.
* Clients I have worked with *
These include Cambridge University Press, French Studies, Forum Italicum (Sage), Penguin Random House, Continuum, Wearset, SPCK, Girls Gone By and private individuals.
* Testimonials *
'Rima has been a valued member of the pool of freelance copy-editors used by the Academic Books division at Cambridge University Press for many years. She works particularly on titles in our Humanities list, and regularly supplies us with work of high quality.'
Tim Ryder, Editorial Services Manager, Academic Books, Cambridge University Press
'Rima was exactly the editor I needed. She brought a sound background knowledge of my subject, understanding and empathy with my aims and objectives, and a critical yet sympathetic approach to my text. The amendments she suggested in the development edit improved the narrative flow and coherence of my chapters and her copy-editing was detailed and meticulous. I am grateful to have worked with her on my book.'
Caroline Walker, December 2023
