Copyediting ensures clarity, coherence, and correctness by focusing on grammar, punctuation and overall readability.

Proofreading entails final checks for typos, formatting issues and minor inconsistencies in a nearly complete text.

Line editing improves sentence structure, tone and flow while enhancing the overall style of the writing.

Developmental editing provides structural feedback on organisation, arguments and flow to strengthen the manuscript as a whole.

Translation editing polishes English texts translated from Chinese to ensure they convey the original message clearly and resonate with the target audience.

Indexing creates clear, user-friendly indexes to enhance the accessibility of content.

Free sample edit of max. 1,000 words to showcase my approach and suitability for your project.

Approach

I focus on grammatical accuracy, consistency and clarity while adhering to these core principles:

• Preserve the author’s voice as much as possible

• Approach the text and the author without making any assumptions about them

• Be able to justify every change I make

• Understand the target reader of every text I edit.

I am also passionate about the power language has. In my work, I aspire to prevent it from being used to hurt, create bias, dehumanise or perpetuate stereotypes, even unintentionally. I strongly support the use and raising of awareness of inclusive, specific, respectful and bias-free language.
