About
A versatile and creative professional with over a decade's experience in the publishing industry, I've worked both in-house with publishers and as a freelancer for a wide variety of organisations and self-publishing authors.
I specialise in copy-editing and proofreading fiction – and particularly enjoy working on YA, romance, crime, thrillers and contemporary fiction – but am open to offers of all sorts of editing work.
I also offer internal book design, simple cover artworking and ebook production, as well as self-publishing consultation.

Laura’s attention to detail, clear communication and adherence to deadline make her an invaluable freelancer to us.
Alexandra Holmes, Managing Editor, Bookouture
Laura has worked with us as a freelance copy-editor since 2019. During this time she has copy-edited a number of our titles including works of biography, memoir, history and popular fiction.
The quality of her copyediting – and her attention to detail in particular – has been consistently outstanding. Her communication and adherence to deadlines has been similarly impressive. I would therefore highly recommend her.
Tom Perrin, Publisher, Zuleika
I have been delighted to employ Laura as a freelance editor, copy-editor and proofreader on a wide range of commercial titles – fiction and non-fiction, from sports journalism to contemporary novels, from gifts books to our most recent title, a series of interviews about the menopause.
In all her work, Laura is consistently well-organised, meticulous and shows real attention to detail and nuance within a variety of texts. Her work is always presented on time and to the highest of standards, according to brief. I know I can rely on her commitment, professionalism and flexible, good-natured approach to undertake important projects and deliver them in a way that absolutely meets our requirements as a busy, independent publisher.
It is a pleasure to work with her.
Emma Hargrave, Editorial Manager, Black & White
To work with Laura is to tap into a deep well of knowledge and experience in editing and book production. Her editing is meticulous and carefully detailed. She was always positive and encouraging as she transformed my manuscript into a book. It will be a pleasure to work with her again

Laura did an amazing job on my novel. The editing I received was thorough and very helpful. Laura was in communication with me often and got my project finished promptly. I hope to have the pleasure of working with her again in the future.

Thoroughly professional yet fun to work with, Laura provided me with the kind of forensic analysis I needed, as well as perceptive suggested edits and instant communication. I couldn't have asked for more in finalising my first book. Laura also designed the ebook, responding quickly to last-minute tweaks and arming me with invaluable tips for the next stage of the process. A great experience all round.
