SUMMARY

I am currently employed by the British Association of Dermatologists as a Senior Technical Editor, working primarily on the highly regarded journals British Journal of Dermatology (BJD) and Clinical and Experimental Dermatology (CED).

I have vast experience in STM project management, journal and book production, copyediting and proofreading. I have worked both in-house and on a freelance basis for some of the world’s leading publishers on world-leading publications.

I have worked continuously in scientific and academic publishing since graduating in 2005, focusing initially on medicine, biology and chemistry texts and journals but branching out to encompass philosophy of science, the humanities, and also economics and business, among many other topics. I have also worked on some high-profile educational material. I have copyedited many books over the last 10 years as a freelance professional, and was a long-term copyeditor for the British Journal of Dermatology, Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery (and its sister publication), European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and Heart, Lung and Circulation.

I am the current Editor of the multi-award-winning local newspaper/magazine, Loch a Tuath News (www.lochatuathnews.com).

TESTIMONIALS

'You have done an absolutely magnificent job with it all [Oxford Textbook of Public Mental Health], and the editors are very grateful to you for making sure it is of such a high standard. On their behalf, very many thanks for your hard – and excellent – work.'

Andrea Livingstone, Editorial Assistant to Professor Dinesh Bhugra CBE

'Jayne was the freelance copyeditor for my book published with Palgrave Macmillan, Social Science Methods for Psychodynamic Inquiry: The Unconscious on the World Scene; a very complex project. Jayne did an extraordinary job, with tact, precision, and sensitivity to language. She was a pleasure to work with, I would recommend her very highly to anyone.'

William Meyers, Professor Emeritus, Harvard University

'I have contracted Jayne to work on a number of projects over the past year or so, including work on a high-profile project for the Financial Times. Jayne is a pleasure to work with, and I would not hesitate to recommend her. Jayne's work is of a very high standard, and her queries are always pertinent. Jayne is reliable and flexible - she has taken on work at short notice, and always delivers on time.'

Emily Ayers, Senior Project Editor, Vocational, Pearson Education

'Jayne is a wonderful copyeditor who always returns work on time. She is very reliable and generous with her time and resources. I don’t know what I would do without her work on Innate Immunity.'

Claire Harper, Senior Production Editor, SAGE Publications Ltd

'I’ve asked Jayne to copyedit or proofread a few books so far and have found her to be very capable. I have been impressed with Jayne’s excellent attention to detail. When proofreading Biophysical Techniques she picked up on corrections to the text design that I would only expect our in-house designer to notice.

'When copyediting An Introduction to Medicinal Chemistry, Jayne’s coding was correct, her queries to the author were sensible and her level of editing was just right.

'She has also struck the right note in her communication with authors and after Jayne proofread Molecular Biology of Cancer the author specifically mentioned how much she enjoyed working with her.'

Philippa Hendry, Production Editor, Oxford University Press

'I want to compliment the copy-editor. Each time you do an outstanding job, better than any journal!'
