About Emily

About

Certified Professional Editor and former IAEA (United Nations) staff editor specializing in work for research and public service organizations.

Hi there. I’m Emily. I’ve been editing and writing professionally since 2005. I’ve been a freelancer since 2008, but I have taken two year-long breaks to work as an in-house editor: at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Austria and at Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Canada.

As a professional editor, I am a bridge between expert and audience. I help experts produce clear, concise, engaging documents that capture the essence of their projects. I help audiences understand complex subjects and give them solid information on which to base their actions and decisions.

Much of my work relates to international development, climate change and sustainability, science and technology, disarmament, migration, and public health, although I often take on other interesting projects. I am a regular editorial consultant for many United Nations agencies, international NGOs, and research institutes. (Some of my recent clients are listed in the next section.)
