CIEP Professional member

I am a qualified and experienced copyeditor, proofreader, and writer, with a sharp eye for detail and a sensitive approach to your text. Over the past 17 years, I have worked on a very broad range of materials, both in terms of subject matter and complexity, from academic articles to corporate multi-authored technical reports, and where the author’s first language is not English. I have considerable experience in editing international development research outputs and business literature, and I have a personal background in music and the performing arts.

Media

Technical reports for businesses, sustainability reports, equality and diversity applications, corporate strategy reports, marketing proposals; academic research including journal articles and books; conference abstracts; corporate website text; educational materials including course content descriptions; theses and dissertations; heavily illustrated text containing photos, technical drawings, tables, graphics; alt text descriptions.

Experience

I established my editing and proofreading business in 2008. Since then, I have gained extensive experience editing non-fiction texts for a wide range of international clients, and frequently on work by authors whose first language is not English. I am experienced in editing complex technical documents for corporate clients, academic research outputs mainly in the field of international development, books, journals, and website text. I am highly proficient in clarifying text into plain English. I also write on a personal and professional basis (songs, poems, short stories) and co-authored a booklet on Thomas Paine.
