Making good writing great

I’m Colin Cooper, a nonfiction editor determined to help my clients write books that get published and publish books people love.

I also work with international agencies and NGOs on reports. I have a Bachelors degree in International Development and a Masters in World Heritage Studies.

Services

If you're looking for an experienced editor with training, professional accreditation and a track record of working on a wide variety of nonfiction books and technical documentation, I'm here to help.

I live in West Yorkshire in the UK, but work with clients all over the world, including authors for whom English is not their first language. I'm familiar with a range of popular style guides and frequently edit in UK, US, Canadian and Australian English.

For authors and publishers
  • Developmental editing: I will help you to structure – or restructure – your manuscript, transforming it into a cohesive and focused book that will impress publishers and inspire readers.
  • Copyediting: I will conduct a comprehensive review of your work and help to build trust and confidence in the things you have to say.
  • Proof-editing: I will work with your copyedited manuscript, paying close attention to revisions and looking out for issues that may have slipped through the net.
For institutions
  • Technical editing: I have years of experience editing textbooks, developer-facing documentation and INGO reports. I will check your technical content meets internal requirements, client guidelines and industry standards.
  • Proofreading: My proofreading service is the last line of defence between your project and its publication. I will cast a fresh pair of eyes over the pages to ensure inconsistencies are banished and errors are eliminated.
