About Alison

Featured

Ex-NHS laboratory geneticist, now a line editor, copyeditor and proofreader of medical, scientific and healthcare materials as well as general fiction and non-fiction books.

I spent over 25 years working as a clinical scientist in Europe's largest teaching hospital before retraining as an editor and proofreader, and since then I've edited material on subjects as diverse as nanomedicine, property developing and Swiss cheese.

As well as being an Advanced Professional Member of the CIEP, I'm also a Partner Member of the Alliance of Independent Authors and have extensive experience of editing fiction and non-fiction books for self-publishing authors. Fiction genres I've worked on include crime fiction / police procedurals, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic fiction, romantic fiction and psychological thrillers; my non-fiction work has included business and self-help books and personal memoirs.

I aim to bring a friendly, open and collaborative approach to all of my work and pride myself on always meeting deadlines.

testimonials

Alison completed some editing for me and the quality, speed and price of her work far exceeded my expectations and previous experiences. I will certainly be recommending her services and will use her support again in the future! Thank you Alison!

SJ, indie author

I don’t release anything until Alison has proofread and edited it for me. She is the single most valuable person in my whole indie-publishing process.

AB, indie author

Many thanks for your work on this book. The comments were either nice to read or helpful, and you gave me the kind of edit I sorely needed … I enjoyed working with you very much.
