Over a decade’s experience of copy-editing, proofreading and project managing editorial jobs of all sizes. Happy to tackle most subjects. I’m also a comedy writer with material regularly broadcast on BBC radio so I can even add jokes if you want me to.
I worked in the Creative Services department of Coachwise Ltd for 11 years, managing a wide range of my own editorial projects in various media, so I am experienced in dealing with clients, designers, authors and other contributors.
Most of my work for Coachwise was related to sports coaching in some way. Satisfied clients include Sports Coach UK (now UK Coaching), 1st4sport Qualifications, the Association for Physical Education and the British Horseracing Authority.
Since going freelance in 2017, I have completed a variety of editing projects for numerous clients. Recent jobs include editing two novels, several history books and a fitness training manual, and proofreading the English versions of various marketing materials translated from German.
I have also built up significant experience in academic proofreading, working on a wide range of journal articles, dissertations and theses up to PhD level, and a multi-author book on food poverty across Europe. Many of these projects have involved dealing constructively and sensitively with text written by non-native speakers of English.
I am keen to continue taking my editorial skills into other areas, especially those that involve my personal interests of comedy and music.

Testimonials
Chris is reliable, honest, diligent, thorough, accurate and trustworthy. He not only has a strong editorial background, but is a great asset in any team in which he works. I sincerely hope to work with him again in the future.
Steven Bancroft, Head of Creative Services, Coachwise Ltd
Chris is a great editor. Thorough, efficient, helpful and perhaps best of all, he doesn’t charge per word. He looks at your text and provides a time and price based on the overall job which is far more reasonable. He provides a timescale for the work and sticks to it. Highly recommended.
Barb Drummond, Historian
I cannot thank Christopher enough for doing such a great job at editing my work. His keen eye picked out discrepancies that my numerous reads failed to do. His notes are encouraging and his editing skills are truly impressive. I would not hesitate in recommending his talented services.
A. Root, Novelist
I went through all the edits yesterday and I’m so happy with the work you have done. I’m so glad for your comments and edits. They have made such a huge difference!
Neola Wilby, The Pole PT
Thank you for the excellent copy-editing work that was done on our manuscript. My co-editor and I were delighted with the copy-editing. The whole thing hung together so well in terms of language and style, and the formatting work was invaluable. 10/10!
