Peer-to-peer group mentoring

Connecting with a community of like-minded professionals is important in any professional context, not least the editorial profession. Many editors and proofreaders will be facing similar challenges in their professional roles and having the opportunity to share and discuss those challenges in a supportive and collaborative environment can be a hugely rewarding experience.

This online peer-to-peer group mentoring event, open exclusively to CIEP members, offers members the chance to exchange valuable knowledge, advice and insights, as well as build their professional network.

How will the event work?

The event will be facilitated by the CIEP professional development manager, Sarah Magee. We’ll start with some short introductions before splitting off into small breakout groups where each member of the group will take turns sitting in the ‘hot seat’ to share the challenge they’re currently facing and receive advice and feedback from the other members of their group. When you register, you’ll be asked to share some information about what you’re hoping to get out of the session so we can try to allocate you to a breakout group that will be most relevant to you and the challenge you’d like to discuss. At the end of the breakout sessions, we’ll come back together and have the chance to share any key learnings with the group as a whole.

Who should join?

The first peer-to-peer group mentoring event is open to all CIEP members, regardless of membership grade. Depending on feedback, we’ll look to host dedicated sessions suitable for members at different stages of their career or who are working in particular areas of practice.

Places are available on a first come, first served basis and will be limited to a maximum of 30 to allow sufficient time for each member to discuss their challenge in breakout groups.

Bookings will close on 27 March at 9am (GMT) or when the event reaches maximum capacity.
