Coaching Authors in Practice

This course is designed for editors who have completed the CIEP Coaching Skills for Fiction Authors course, or for those who already provide coaching to clients in some capacity, and want to learn how to effectively apply their skills to their coaching practice. Weekly sessions will take place from 10.00 to 11.30am GMT.

About the course

This course is designed for editors who have completed the CIEP Coaching Skills for Fiction Authors course, or for those who already provide coaching to clients in some capacity, and want to learn how to effectively apply their skills to their coaching practice. The case studies used throughout the course are all based on fiction/creative non-fiction projects. The course is best suited for editors and/or book coaches who have previously completed some editorial training and have some experience of meeting one-to-one with clients.

Over the four weeks you’ll learn how to best put your coaching skills into practice both as a service of its own and in combination with other editing services. We’ll use real-life case studies and group work to explore different ways to approach clients’ needs. There will be lots of discussion and a new exercise each week so by the end of the course, you’ll be a more confident coach full of new ideas to help your clients create great books.

By the end of the course, you will:
  • Have an abundance of ideas, tips and tricks to help structure your coaching sessions and keep your clients engaged
  • Understand how to cope with difficult situations that may arise during coaching and hold your boundaries
  • Know how to combine coaching with your other editing services and design attractive packages
