CIEP Roundtables: Kick-off meeting
CIEP Roundtables: Kick-off meeting
Join us for a kick-off meeting to launch a new series of CIEP Roundtables – a space for editorial professionals to come together to explore the challenges and opportunities facing our profession.
In 2026, we’ll be hosting a programme of CIEP Roundtables designed to support shared learning and thought leadership across the editorial profession. Roundtables give members the opportunity to contribute their expertise, learn from peers and help shape conversations that matter – while also helping to raise awareness of the profession and the value of editorial work.
These sessions will bring together professionals with a range of backgrounds and roles to share perspectives, learn from one another and contribute ideas, with the aim of generating insights that will help us steer the future of the profession.
Who should join?
The kick-off meeting is open to all CIEP members who would like to contribute to a discussion on the key issues, concerns, challenges and emerging trends shaping the industry in 2026 and beyond.
Numbers will be limited for future sessions, and available on a first come, first served basis, to enable in-depth, high-quality discussion. By opening the kick-off meeting more widely, we aim to capture as many perspectives as possible to help shape the programme.
By participating, you'll have the opportunity to connect with editors and proofreaders at a similar career stage and be part of steering conversations about your profession.
What to expect
Roundtable sessions will be chaired by CIEP chair, Louise Harnby. During the kick-off meeting, we’ll:
-
explore the purpose and benefits of the CIEP Roundtable series
-
split into breakout groups for discussions on the key challenges and opportunities facing the editorial profession
-
come together in plenary to share ideas discussed in breakouts that will help to shape the CIEP Roundtables programme for 2026.
CIEP Roundtables: Your questions answered
Why are we launching CIEP Roundtables?
CIEP Roundtables are designed to bring experienced members together to share insights, test ideas and explore the issues shaping the editorial profession. They create space for expert-led discussion, peer-to-peer learning, thoughtful debate, collective expertise and thought leadership – benefiting both participants and the wider membership.
Who are CIEP Roundtables for?
CIEP Roundtables are designed for CIEP members with relevant experience in the topics being discussed. They’re for members who want to contribute their knowledge, learn from peers and take part in thoughtful discussion about the profession. Their experience may come from different career stages, roles or specialisms, depending on the focus of each session.
What is the purpose of the kick-off meeting?
During the kick-off meeting we'll introduce the Roundtable format, agree shared expectations for discussion, and explore key trends, challenges and opportunities facing the publishing and editorial industries in order to identify themes for future Roundtable sessions.
Why are places on future CIEP Roundtables limited?
CIEP Roundtables will have limited capacities to support meaningful, in-depth discussion where everyone has space to contribute.
What if more members apply than there are places?
If a Roundtable is oversubscribed, we’ll set up a waiting list. The levels of interest will help inform future sessions and topics.
Why is the kick-off meeting taking place at this time?
We know that no single time works for everyone. The kick-off meeting will help us test the format, and timings may vary for future CIEP Roundtables.
How will wider member voices be included?
Insights from the session will be shared with the wider membership, and future Roundtable topics will be shaped by both participant input and broader member feedback.
Will anything from the discussion be shared publicly?
With participants’ permission, we may share selected insights and soundbites to help raise the profile of the profession, strengthen the CIEP’s voice as an industry leader, and showcase the expertise of members taking part, supporting their professional visibility and reputation.
