About Karen

In 2007, after completing initial proofreading and copyediting training with the PTC and CIEP, I started my career within the publishing industry as a freelancer. As a trained chemist, I previously worked in industry as a regulatory scientist, which amongst other things, involved the preparation and reviewing of reports and summaries.

As an experienced scientist, I am both familiar with the content and subject-specific terminology, as well as the grammar and language. I have excellent attention to detail and have been thanked by authors for "saving their face" for picking up those errors that have been missed when they have read their book so many times that they just read what they expect to be there.

In addition to proofreading and copyediting, I have also been a solution checker for both chemistry and maths books.
