About Alison
I am a freelance proofreader who specialises in educational and mathematical documents. I have worked in education for 17 years and can use my experience to support your needs. I have a passion for education and a love of learning!
I studied mathematics to degree level and have a very analytical mind. I am great with figures, formulas, data tables, diagrams, map reading and finer details. I am also a maths checker and have experience of checking all levels of maths from primary to degree level working with publishers and students. I have taught maths in Primary schools, planning and developing the maths curriculum.
My experience includes proofreading and copyediting Teacher's Phonics Guides, Maths Textbooks and Maths online learning modules using my experience in teaching. Working with publishers has given me experience of implementing house styles and in one case supporting them to develop their own style. I have offered feedback on content and advice for improvements.
I have proofread non-fiction books for publishers, including anthologies of fables and poems. Also proofreading for independent authors, non-fiction books on Project Management. My education background has led me to proofread online learning modules for schools and universities, such as modules in Financial management, A Level Maths, Further Maths, Statistics and Mechanics.
My love of maths has led me to proofread a dissertation on the Mathematical Analysis of Graphene. I have checked the maths for Primary and A Level online learning modules. Also proofreading Travel Guidebooks following my love of holidays. I have proofread websites for companies, such as a Literacy company and an IT training company, supporting them with accurately portraying their training requirements. Also proofreading business policies to ensure accuracy for the company.
