Session 5 – breakout seminars (running concurrently)
This session is ideal for all editorial professionals who want to be able to communicate their value and expertise to existing and potential clients in a succinct and relatable way.
Communicating the value of our work to people outside of the profession in a way that resonates with them can be difficult. For example, how can we explain how editorial professionals can help large organisations achieve their business objectives, and how we can support charities and non-profit organisations, which have tight budgets but still need to communicate accurately, efficiently and purposefully? How can we articulate the advantages of working with us in a way that speaks to their needs?
Marketers often talk about elevator pitches and XYZ statements. Their purpose is to help an individual or organisation connect with their audience, and communicate the value of a product or service, succinctly and effectively. In this session, we’ll explore how we can use these techniques to convey what we do and the added benefits that working with an editing professional can offer a potential client. We’ll share ideas and suggestions, and will have the opportunity to construct our own elevator pitches or XYZ statements, which consider ourselves as individuals, that we can take away and apply to our own businesses.
