IMPORTANT NOTICE

In light of the escalating risks associated with COVID-19, the CIEP Council asked all of its local groups in March to suspend their in-person activities until further notice.

The Council assessed the risk to its members and continues to believe that this is a prudent step both generally and specifically, given its membership demographics. The Council is reviewing the situation periodically and will communicate clearly with all members when it is considering lifting the suspension.

In the meantime, local groups are commonly meeting on the CIEP’s paid-for Zoom videoconferencing platform, and the Council has taken several steps to secure that online space and allay concerns fuelled by recent media coverage.

CIEP Council – 13 July 2020

CIEP members are welcome at all local group events. When the groups meet again in person, those who don't already belong to the Institute will be welcome to attend up to three local group meetings before deciding whether to join. In the meantime, while they are not able to join the online local group meetings, non-members interested in discovering more about the CIEP are invited to join us at a CIEP Discovery meeting. Find out more by emailing the .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Whether meeting online or in person, the groups’ activities vary. Most meet regularly, providing opportunities for the sharing of knowledge and networking. Some visit local organisations of interest, host speakers at their meetings and organise training workshops.

Note: Members of the CIEP and the Society of Indexers (SI) are able (and encouraged) to attend each other’s local group meetings. These meetings offer the chance to network, discuss common topics and to gain an insight into the issues faced by the other organisation. The SI has several local groups of varying sizes who meet for informal lunches, more structured workshops and excursions to local sites. For more information on the SI’s local groups, please see the SI website or contact the .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
